Ted Bundy’s Volkswagen

5 Actors | 100 Minutes

Twenty-four year-old Annie, desperate to heal their fractured relationship, takes her mom on an epic, true-crime-themed road trip. Will they be able to heal old wounds by the time they get to Ted Bundy’s Volkswagen in Pidgeon Forge, Tennessee?

Ted Bundy’s Volkswagen is a thoroughly contemporary comedy-thriller which satisfies those looking for a traditional stage play as well as those with a taste for formal experimentation.

Though, technically, Ted Bundy’s Volkswagen has yet to officially premiere in New York City, we sold out a workshop production in 2023 as residents at IRT in Manhattan. The workshop was funded in part by a cash grant from Northwestern University and was produced and directed by me.

Will You Lead Me to the Garden of Bees?

6 Actors | 80 Minutes

The development of a mysterious heart condition leads Paul, an aspiring playwright, into a series of dreams, memories, and mirages which are populated by all sorts of angels and demons. And bees — buzzing, angry bees.

Will You Lead Me to the Garden of Bees? is a blast for the cast and audience alike. It makes abject anxiety into a huge, loud, and funny theatrical experience. Think Inside Out combined with House combined with The 39 Steps.

Will You Lead Me to the Garden of Bees most recently enjoyed a staged reading at Northwestern University (2022), directed by Tor Campbell.

Gain!

4 Actors | 90 Minutes

Four young men, each with a unique and complicated relationship to their own masculinity, go head to head in a very particular American space: the weight room of a college gym.

Gain! is a fast-paced comedic drama that offers a unique, voyeuristic look into masculine gym culture and its connection to broader political and economic systems.

In 2018, I produced and directed Gain! as a site-based show in a gym near Bryant Park, selling out a four-week run.

Under a Foreign Flag

1 Actor | 15 Minutes

Part one-man play, part living history event, Under a Foreign Flag tells the true story of Eugene Jacques Bullard, the first African-American fighter pilot.

I was commissioned to write the show by the Ebony Doughboys, an all-black WWI reenactment troupe based in New Jersey. The role of Bullard was originated by Chadd Gray at the World War One Centennial Celebration on Governors Island in 2016. The play ran later that same year at an educational Veteran’s Day event in Charlottesville, VA.

Overnight (2017) and Charlie and Bruno (2016)

Though these two plays are shelved, due to them being written by a much younger Henry, they are vital in my development as a director and producer. They mark the two inaugural years of the Pennington Alumni Theater Series, which I co-founded with Technical Director Tim Secrest in 2016.
